Count Zsigmond Széchenyi Memorial Medal Donation Ceremony
As always in the years following the World Hunting Exhibition, this time too the Hungarian Agricultural Museum and Library hosted the ceremony to award the memorial medal named after the greatest Hungarian hunter.
There is no more beautiful and worthy act in the world than someone selflessly supporting the recovery of sick children, thus serving their country and the entire HUNGARIAN NATION.
Well, 57 of the 70 thousand Hungarian hunters have previously received the Count Zsigmond Széchenyi Memorial Medal, now another 19 of our fellow hunters have been awarded. The name Széchenyi is a concept, it is unavoidable in the Hungarian hunting culture, therefore it is of particular significance to us that the most valuable and highest moral award can bear the name of the Count! We are grateful to Aunt Mangi, who fully supported our idea in 2020, when we established the Széchenyi Memorial Medal, and considered our invitation an honor for the Széchenyi family! In fact, she said: “If Zsiga were alive, he would be the first to be there at the charity hunt!”
For those who may think the name Széchenyi means original, it is worth dwelling on this sentence for a while...
We sincerely thank and appreciate the outstanding efforts of our fellow hunters who were able to receive the award this year. We also thank Dr. János Estók, Director General of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum and Library, for being a prominent supporter of the charitable collaboration for many years and for being able to present the highest-level hunting award at the most worthy location - according to our values!
We would like to thank Dr. Bálint Raffay, Deputy Director General of the National Hospital Directorate General, and Prof. Dr. Miklós Heltai, Director of the MATE Institute, for honoring our event as a medal presenter. We are also grateful to the 2x European Champion Hunters Chamber Horn Ensemble for their presence and performance, and it is a special pleasure for us that we could also hear the OJV signal in their performance!
Last but not least, we would like to thank the host and performing artist Bence Ervin Takács for his excellent moderation!
